Mrs. Griffin's Third Grade Class

Welcome to my third grade website.

Parents, here you will find homework assignments, information on our class, and lists of things your child will need.  I have also included articles for you to read.

ABOUT THE TEACHER:

I lived in West Plains, Missouri until I was married in 1969 to the love of my life, Mike. We moved to Texas when my husband was drafted into the military; We liked Texas and decided to stay.  We have two children, our daughter is 33 and our son is 29.  Mike and I recently celebrated our 39th anniversary!

EDUCATION:

I have a secondary degree in Social Studies and Psychology from Southwest Missouri State University in MO. I have an elementary certification from Mary Hardin Baylor University in Belton, TX. I have a masters in education from University of Houston at Clear Lake.  I have taught kindergarten, GED, reading 1-6, second and third grade.

I have lived in Channelview 32 years. I've taught third grade for twelve years, and second grade for eight years.

I think my greatest accomplishments were: In 1994, I was selected to be in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, and in 2003 I was nominated to be Teacher of the Year at McMullan Primary.  And in 2008 I made "Teacher of the Year" at my school!

My hobbies are collecting old coal oil lanterns, clocks, and reading. I collect lots of books for my students and myself.  I also seem to collect lots of clutter.

MISSION FOR THE CLASS OF 2007-2008- To create an environment for meaningful and interesting learning activities for my students and to build a firm foundation for the skills needed to succeed in third grade. To develop good work-study skills that will empower students as self-directed, creative, lifelong learners and responsible citizens. These skills will then be used in third grade to make the foundation even firmer, and promote success on the TAKS Test.
